Yolanda "SunShyne" White

“SunShyne”…that's my name within the motorcycle community, I'm aka Yolanda White. I ride with sheer passion and joy for the sport of motorcycling and those who know me best know that when I ride I truly get my “Shyne” on! Professionally, I'm a Senior Communicator Specialist in the Communication Division with the New Orleans Fire Department. With a dedicated 36 years of service to my profession, I'm anticipating retirement soon.

I've been a member of the Hurricane Riders Motorcycle Club since July, 2004. Riding a motorcycle has always been in my heart. It all started as a teenager when I sort of “borrowed” my uncle's 250 Honda. In 1999 I purchased my first bike, a 1997 Yamaha Virago. Within a month I was riding that bike long distances including traveling out of Louisiana . As my passion for riding increased, so did my innate need for more power from my machine. I was ready to step it up.

2003 brought with it a brand new, chromed out, iridescent, (SunShyne) orange 2004 Honda VTX 1300. While the VTX and I had a few wonderful years and created great memories together, it was unfortunately a casualty of Hurricane Katrina. When I returned home from my Katrina exile, I purchased another 2004 Honda VTX 1300, this time in burgundy. During that time riding allowed me solace, brought peace of mind, and also a few dreams.

One of those dreams was to own a Harley Davidson Motorcycle . I'm proud to say my dream has come true; I now own a vivid black Harley Davidson “Street Glide”.

When I feel the need, I get on my “Glide and together we get my “Shyne” on!
