I started riding as soon as I moved out of my parent's home because my mother would have no part of her son on a motorcycle. I have owned a motorcycle ever since. Twenty five years and seven motorcycles later, I have the motorcycle that I have always wanted....the Honda Goldwing. It is actually my third wing but it is the first brand new wing that I have ever had. Riding a wing is one of life's finer pleasures. Riding a wing with a great group of friends is priceless. That is where the Hurricane Riders come in. As one of its founding members, we set out with the idea of using motorcycling as a catalyst of community outreach to inner-city youth. Our primary objective was emphasizing to kids the importance of education and service to the community. My club members gave me the name "MacGyver" (remember, the 80's character that could make a two way radio out of a gum wrapper a piece of wire and a battery) because if it's broken, I'll fix it! It may not be as the manufacturer intended but with a little "afro-centric engineering" I'll make it do what it needs to do!!!! |
